The update 1.5 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has introduced many new features, including the release of the Zone Kit for modders. This kit allows players to create new content or modify existing content in the game.
However, installing the tools requires finding 700 GB of free space on your computer. According to the information provided on the official website, it requires 471 GB for download, and after unpacking, the program will occupy 659 GB of space.
PC Gamer compared the size of the modding tools for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 with modding software for other games. For instance, the modding tools for Starfield are only 20 GB, and for the massive Baldur’s Gate III, it’s 150 GB.
PC Gamer also reached out to GSC Game World for an explanation. A studio spokesperson responded, explaining that the size of the mod kit is due to the in-game assets being uncompressed for the mod makers. Since it’s a large game with numerous assets, this results in a considerable download size.”
The spokesperson further stated, “The Zone Kit is currently in phase one, and we will explore opportunities to optimize its size (if possible) in the future.”
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released for PC and Xbox Series X|S in November of last year.
