Rumor: Resident Evil Requiem Could Also Release on Nintendo Switch 2 and PS4

Resident Evil Requiem

Well-known (and sometimes incorrect) leaker Dusk Golem has once again spoken about Resident Evil Requiem, claiming that the new entry in the series could also be released on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 4. According to him, this has been confirmed by several people familiar with the matter.

Of course, this is not official information. However, Dusk Golem has proven somewhat reliable in the past, especially when it comes to Capcom games and Resident Evil, so his claims deserve some consideration.

The idea of Resident Evil Requiem launching on Nintendo Switch 2 seems logical given the success of the console and its more advanced hardware, which may allow for a native version rather than a cloud-based solution. The PS4 release is doubtful, but it might still align with Capcom’s strategy so far.

In fact, even Resident Evil Village, which many expected to be only for newer systems, was eventually released on older consoles. Considering the PS4’s massive player base, Capcom might want to include it as well for Requiem.

As for Nintendo Switch 2, the new console is reportedly capable of running demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Star Wars Outlaws. This suggests that handling Resident Evil Requiem should not be an issue, especially since it runs on Capcom’s RE Engine. Dusk Golem summarized the situation in a recent message:

I won’t be at around the bush, Resident Evil Requiem should be releasing in PlayStation 4 & Nintendo Switch 2, seems this was kinda’ known behind the scenes & in the grapevine. I’m not the first person to say this publicly actually, just corroborating. Talked about it with five different people in the last few weeks and know another guy with a good reputation said as much less than a week ago.

Finally, Dusk Golem speculated, “Unsure if it’ll be at launch, and my guess is it’ll be a different version with different tech sorta like the 360/PS3 & Wii/PS2 era, since some features of Requiem like ray tracing are focused on modern platforms.”
