ROUTINE, the long-delayed sci-fi horror title from Lunar Software, resurfaced at Gamescom 2025 with a new trailer that offers another look at its lunar setting and tense survival gameplay.
The footage takes viewers inside the game’s abandoned Moon base, showcasing dark corridors, unreliable lighting, and the mechanical threats players will have to contend with. As in previous showings, the Cosmonaut Assistance Tool appears central to interacting with the environment and defending against enemies, reinforcing the game’s slower-paced, atmospheric style.
Originally announced in 2012, ROUTINE has faced numerous setbacks over 13 years, including financial pauses and engine changes, making this reappearance notable for fans who have followed its long development. Now backed by publisher Raw Fury, the project appears to be back on track.
While the new trailer doesn’t dramatically shift expectations, it reinforces what the developers have described from the start: a first-person horror experience that leans into tension, minimal HUD elements, and a setting where silence can be just as threatening as the robotic adversaries stalking the base.
No firm release date was provided, but Lunar Software and Raw Fury are currently aiming for a late 2025 launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
