Hardcore Resident Evil fans may not agree with this, but after playing Resident Evil Requiem, it feels clear that one of the games that most needs a remake is the first Resident Evil.
Yes, the original game already received a great REmake version more than ten years ago, and many fans still love it. But the franchise has changed a lot since then, and it would be interesting to see modern Capcom return to its roots with everything it has learned over the years.
Why I Want a Remake of the First Resident Evil

Rumors have started again thanks to Resident Evil Requiem, which seems to hint at a possible remake of the first game. But even without those hints, playing as Grace in this new title makes you think about the Spencer Mansion and how exciting it would be to explore it again with modern design and gameplay.
The remastered version is still a great way to experience the original game today, especially with its classic style. However, the series has moved in different directions over time.
Also, Resident Evil 2 Remake already showed that the old gameplay style can be updated into something more modern while keeping what made the original special.
Modern Fear in Classic Locations

The patient facility in Resident Evil Requiem feels very similar to the mansion from the first game, but I feel it is much more intense and scary. The game builds tension very well, helped by Grace and how she moves and reacts in the environment.
While exploring its corridors and solving puzzles, it’s easy to imagine how a modern version of the Spencer Mansion could feel with today’s technology and design.
It will likely happen at some point, although current rumors suggest that Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero are higher on Capcom’s priority list.
Still, it feels like the right time to evolve the original game. With the same creativity shown in Requiem, Capcom could bring back that iconic location and make players feel real fear again in the place where it all started.
What do you think? Do you believe the original Resident Evil really needs a full remake, or is the REmake version still good enough today? Let us know in the comments below.
