Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 With Hidden Message in RE4 Sales Video

Resident Evil 9

Capcom may have hidden a reference to Resident Evil 9 in its recent celebratory video for Resident Evil 4 sales. This theory comes from fans, starting with a post by the well-known leaker, Dusk Golem.

The topic is linked to a message posted by Capcom on X, where the Dev 1 team thanks fans for the sales of Resident Evil 4. As we know, Resident Evil 4 has sold over 10 million copies, and the series has reached 167 million copies in total.

The message is accompanied by a video showing some gameplay sequences, but the video ends with a particular shot of an element in the game’s environment that was specifically changed for this celebratory video. This change seems to hint at the next chapter in the series.

At the end of the video, wooden signs with messages thanking the community, “thank you for playing,” and “glory to the players” in English and Spanish are displayed. These signs might be a clue about the upcoming game.

Many fans noticed that the signs form an “X” and an “I,” and when viewed horizontally, they form “IX,” which in Roman numerals means 9. This has led people to believe it could be a teaser for Resident Evil 9.

The sign wasn’t part of the original game’s setting, and the extra vertical pole was only added for this video. While the sign doesn’t have any particular meaning on its own, its design strongly suggests it’s a deliberate reference to the next game in the series.
