REmake 2 x Monster Hunter World Event Begins Today
Eager to sink your teeth into something really delicious? How about some savory steak and rice, courtesy of one Mr. X? The silly, adorable, and totally awesome REmake 2 crossover event with Monster Hunter World: Iceborn was announced last month and I couldn’t be more regretful that I’m just sort of so-so on the series. Now, we finally have a release date! The world of REmake 2 collides with that of Monster Hunter November 7th — today, exclusive for Iceborn expansion players. From the press release:
Popular survival horror icons Leon, Claire and Tyrant pay a visit to Iceborne for the Raccoon City collaboration, which will be available from 4pm PT on November 7 in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. As part of this special collaboration, hunters can acquire materials upon completing the event quest (MR20 or above) to craft Leon α+ and Claire α+ layered armor sets plus three Raccoon City themed pendants to spruce up their favorite weapons. Additional rewards for completing the event quest include two new gestures, allowing hunters to shuffle like zombies or even zombie bite a nearby monster to deal damage. Raccoon City also takes over Your Room, with a variety of themed decorations available for hunters to deck out their pads in survival horror style, including the iconic typewriter and item box (which of course includes the ability to save game progress and store your items respectively). Thanks to last month’s title update, players can also show off their macabre abodes as friends can visit each other’s rooms.
The Raccoon City collaboration would not be complete without the iconic Tyrant. “The Handler’s Terrifying Tyrant” paid DLC costume transforms the normally spunky young woman into a trenchcoat-wearing, quest journal-wielding brute to join hunters on quests, prepare meals at camp, and even appear in cut-scenes.
There’s also a pretty swell looking Horizon: Zero Dawn event for PS4 users, which is cool (another game I need to finish). It’s pretty awesome to see Monster Hunter continue to add more and more crossovers into the game; thus far we’ve seen Devil May Cry, Witcher 3, Horizon, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy XIV, the list is huge. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for an Ace Attorney event, because I need to see my boy Nick running around the jungle with a giant sword. With REmake 2 in the fold now, odds are pretty good World will be able to suck up a few more users just to see the hilarious looking Mr. X skin antics. A good way to throw a few more units on the already insane 14.1 million sales pile (for reference that’s double the amount Capcom’s second best-selling title, Resident Evil 5, sold).
Again, the REmake 2 crossover event with Monster Hunter World: Iceborn begins today, so have at it!
