Phasmophobia has been in early access for over half a decade, with the developers promising last year that it would finally be officially released in 2026. Just before the end of last year, the team also shared the roadmap for this year, which looks to be the most ambitious year yet for the title.
It appears that the developers have been working hard on the game. As the roadmap suggested, the team has released a reworked Tanglewood map. The map was among the very few when the title was first launched in early access back in 2020, so the community is indeed well aware of it.
Talking about the rework, the Art Director at Kinetic Games, Corey Dixon, stated that the team has worked carefully on the map, improving the visuals and gameplay experience while adding spookier elements for the fans. He further confirms that the team has left clues for fans to learn more about the house.
It’s the same Tanglewood we know and love, but with better, spookier elements. Players might even find some clues about what happened in the house before the haunting.
As the new and improved Tanglewood map has finally been released as a free update for everyone to play, the developers will now shift their focus to the player character overhaul and a revamp of 13 Willow Street, as revealed previously in the Phasmophobia roadmap for 2026.
Phasmophobia is currently available to enjoy on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. It will also be released for Switch 2 later this year.
