Latest DayZ Experimental update adds cowboy hats, sewing, leather jackets (Update: It’s out and borked)

DayZ’s last patch may have just gone stable yesterday, but already there is an new experimental one available for download with new items and fixes. The latest experimental patch (available now) adds cowboy hats, sewing kits and crafting recipes, leather jackets, and improved animations. With the sewing kits and crafting recipes, players can now repair their clothing. A bevy of glitch fixes were also added.

The current changelog is not final and is expected to change according to the game’s creator, Dean Hall. New features and fixes may be added in between now and the patch’s expected stable release on Wednesday.

Update: In a surprise move, the current update and all of its changes have been pushed to a stable release today. While this was exciting as the wait time was cut by a week, players are reporting that the current build of the game contains a huge memory leak, lowering FPS by large percentages and making the game unplayable for some. The development team is out of the office until Monday, so DayZ may very well be unplayable for the weekend. That’s alpha for ya!
