The year has just begun, and already there are lots of exciting horror games to look forward to, including Project Songbird and Resident Evil Requiem. Another intriguing title on the horizon is John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, developed by Saber Interactive, the same team behind Evil Dead: The Game and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Saber has also worked on remakes and ports of titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
The release date of the game was announced during The Game Awards 2025. The developers have now revealed that a demo will be available starting February 19th. This will give players a chance to try out the game for themselves just a few weeks before its official launch.
The game is set in a near future where an experiment to harness the power of the Earth’s core goes horribly wrong, releasing a monstrous entity known as the Sludge God. This catastrophe transforms the world into sludge and turns humans into undead monsters. However, the scientist behind the experiment has a plan to set things right. To save the world, he needs a skilled team of mercenaries, but the top hires are prohibitively expensive. Instead, he recruits the Toxic Commandos!
Players take control of one of the commandos, choose the class that matches their playstyle, and take their favorite ride to unleash hell against Sludge God and its undead hordes. The game offers full crossplay, allowing PC and console players to team up and save the world together.
John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando launches on March 12th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Along with the demo’s release date, the developers have also released a new gameplay overview trailer, showcasing a fresh look at the game’s chaotic atmosphere and intense action, which you can watch below.
