Halloween: The Game Release Date Revealed During State of Play

Halloween: The Game

The Shape is coming, and this time, he’s playable. IllFonic and Gun Interactive officially unveiled the release date for Halloween: The Game during Sony’s State of Play. The game will be released on September 8, 2026 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The trailer gives fans their first real look at what’s in store, being a cat-and-mouse asymmetrical horror in the haunted town of Haddonfield, where players can take on the role of Michael Myers himself. You can be stalking innocents, or play as terrified civilians trying to survive Myers’ rampage. Myers will wield abilities like “Shape Jump” to ambush victims, while the civilians must scavenge, strategize, warn others, and even call the police if they can.

IllFonic promises both single-player and multiplayer modes. If you’d rather not face other humans, you’ll be able to play solo against AI bots. One of the biggest draws here is how faithful the presentation intends to be. The game aims to recapture the eerie atmosphere of John Carpenter’s 1978 original, complete with ambient lighting, suburban dread, and the looming threat of Myers walking in the dark.

Can IllFonic deliver balance between a playable Myers and human survivors, and will the gameplay feel tense, or gimmicky? We’ll find out when Halloween: The Game launches next year.
