Halloween was first announced at Gamescom last year and is being developed by Illfonic and Gun Interactive. Since its official reveal, anticipation for the title has continued to grow, especially given its roots in John Carpenter’s horror classic.
It was already confirmed at the official reveal that the game will feature both single-player and multiplayer, allowing players to experience a proper narrative in single-player mode while enjoying more dynamic gameplay in multiplayer. As the title is set to launch later this year, the developers are sharing more information and have released a deep dive video on the multiplayer portion of the experience.
Just recently, Illfonic’s official YouTube channel released a 7-minute video offering players a closer look at what to expect from the game’s multiplayer modes. As expected, Halloween will feature a 1v4 asymmetrical horror experience, allowing players to either take on the role of civilians trying to save Haddonfield, or step into the shoes of Michael Myers to spread chaos across the neighborhood.
The team also emphasized the importance of staying true to the original movie, stating:
Halloween is a legendary film with a genre-defining legacy, and our mission has been to bring the film’s unsettling sense of dread to our asymmetrical horror sandbox.
The developers have promised to share more information about the title in the coming months. You can follow us to stay up to date on the latest information about the title.
Halloween launches on September 8th, and will be available to enjoy on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC via Epic Games Store and Steam.
