H1Z1 being chopped into two separate games

2016-02-08b

After some time deliberating their options, the team behind the multiplayer-zombie-survival game H1Z1 have decided to split their Early Access project into two different games. Now regarded as H1Z1: Just Survive and H1Z1: King of the Kill, the former will be based off the existing every-man-for-himself wasteland the title was known for where as the latter is a more action-oriented shooter based on standard competitive game modes. According to the developer, this split will allow separate (and growing) teams to concentrate on the elements that matter to each version rather than make one disjointed single package. King of the Kill plans to be out of Early Access this Summer along with an arrival on current gen platforms, with Just Survive coming out at an indeterminate date afterward.

Anyone who has bought the game prior to this point will have access to both for free as well as their inventories duplicated across each. If you want in on the deal, make sure to purchase the existing version of H1Z1 (currently 25% off during Steam’s sale) on or before the 16th. Afterwards, both titles will be $19.99 each. And if you hadn’t noticed, Daybreak Studios is ditching the originally conceived F2P model that H1Z1 was announced to have.
