DMC gets new screens, pieces of art, and some background information

It’s been a little while since we’ve seen or heard anything new from Ninja Theory’s upcoming take on the Devil May Cry series, DMC. The developer is set to give us a younger Dante– one that looks different than before, which, of course, has led to much debate amongst the fanbase. And just recently, Capcom has shed some new light on this younger demon slayer.

He’s described as having no respect whatsoever for authority and society at large, as well as being torn between his human and demon sides. He doesn’t want to fully embrace his demon side due to the harsh memories he has of being tormented by demons throughout his life, but he does acknowledge that he isn’t exactly human.

Dante’s iconic weaponry of choice is then detailed. his trusty sword, the Rebellion, was handed down to him by his father, Sparda. This was given to him to help protect him from the demons that continue to haunt him throughout his life. What isn’t exactly known is how Dante came into possession of his iconic dual guns, Ebony and Ivory.

Rebellion was designed with the intentions of making it look like a very powerful sword. The detailing put into its handle’s there to tag some historical significance and a taste of demonic heritage to its design. The sword’s design also stylistically matches that of Ebony and Ivory– which was also intended. The two guns were designed to give off the impression that they were created a very long time ago and that since then it’s been the reason for the destruction of many demons.

You can view the weapons in the new pieces of art below. In the same gallery you could also check out some new in-game shots with Dante wielding the iconic weapons. Are you excited for the game’s planned 2012 release?
