Remedy Entertainment announced CONTROL Resonant last year during the Game Awards 2025, a direct sequel to 2019’s sublime Control. During the recent State of Play, the developers released the first official gameplay trailer for the game, showcasing what fans can expect from the sequel.
CONTROL Resonant won’t be a typical open-world game. However, it will feature large, expansive areas filled with side activities, hidden encounters, and optional discoveries, giving fans more space to explore and enjoy the game at their own pace. The first full gameplay footage shows main character Dylan Faden in action as he hunts a powerful Resonant enemy within the shifting landscape of the West Incursion Zone in Manhattan, which has been reshaped by otherworldly forces and actively breaking reality apart.
Throughout the game, Dylan wields the Aberrant, an otherworldly, shapeshifting melee weapon that can transform into multiple forms, giving players a versatile toolkit to define their approach to combat. Players will constantly expand their toolkit by unlocking new forms of the Aberrant, supernatural abilities, and talents.
Dylan will also possess supernatural abilities in the game, including Reach, which allows him to traverse distances while defying the laws of physics. The trailer introduces powerful boss enemies known as Resonants. Although facing them poses a significant challenge, defeating them not only advances the narrative but also grants Dylan new abilities.
The trailer also lets us hear a voice of someone guiding Dylan. As confirmed by Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov, who spoke with the PlayStation Blog about the latest trailer, it introduces a new character in the universe: Zoe De Vera, an FBC Field Agent who serves as Dylan’s handler, offering him guidance throughout the game.
CONTROL Resonant will be published by Remedy Entertainment. Annapurna Pictures is co-financing and co-producing the game as part of a strategic partnership with Remedy Entertainment.
The game is scheduled to be released in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac via Steam and the App Store.
