Developer ArtPlay and publisher 505 Games have announced Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, a follow-up to Ritual of the Night.
The new game will act as a prequel to the original Bloodstained, which was itself a spiritual sequel to the Castlevania series.
The Scarlet Engagement features different main characters, since Miriam was less involved in the story at this point in the lore. The new protagonists will work together, since the game will feature full co-op play, letting two players control the characters simultaneously, allowing for lots of combo attacks and co-operative strategies, along with the new, more dynamic camera angles, which are showcased in the game’s announcement trailer.
The game is looking like it has even more direct influence from the wonderful 2.5D Castlevania title, Mirror of Fate, which hopefully will be a good indicator of the quality here.
The Scarlet Engagement is due out in 2026, with no exact date announced yet, but it’ll be launching on PC, Xbox and PlayStation platforms and is available for wishlisting on all of these platforms.
