Bloodborne fans have been waiting for years to hear something new in the franchise. While the wait for a new entry continues, Sony has confirmed plans to produce an R-rated animated movie of the iconic PS4 title. This news was officially announced during the recent CinemaCon.
The movie will be produced by PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation, and YouTuber and gamer Sean McLoughlin, also known as JackSepticEye. Sony Pictures and Lyrical Media will be co-financing it. No further information, such as the director, screenwriter, or release date, have been revealed by Sony.
Sony confirmed that the release of the Bloodborne movie will continue its push for video game IPs to be made as movies. Previously, Sony has also released movies and shows based on the Uncharted, The Last of Us, and Twisted Metal IPs. Bloodborne will mark another project in the recent push.
While the story of the film hasn’t been revealed yet, fans can expect a plot similar to the game: a hunter exploring a destroyed city full of citizens transformed into beasts. You can expect to hear more information about the movie in the coming days.
