A group of passionate Baldur’s Gate 3 fans has decided to take on a very ambitious project: creating a new custom campaign based on the popular Curse of Strahd module. This will allow players to experience a brand-new horror-themed story that stays true to the atmosphere of the original source material.
Project Strahd is a fan-driven mod adaptation of Curse of Strahd for Baldur’s Gate 3. It aims to provide a completely new campaign for Baldur’s Gate 3, using various modding tools and the resources from the Curse of Strahd Dungeons & Dragons module. It will draw inspiration from the module’s characters, settings, and general rules.
This is, without a doubt, a huge undertaking, and the creators know it will take time, but they seem to have a clear plan in place. The concept they are working on is very intriguing.
The Project Strahd will bring a gothic horror story, full of twists and different paths based on the players’ choices and actions. It will also introduce six new characters for the party, with at least one more to be added later. There seems to be a lot of content in the works.
Like in the main game, players will be able to form romantic relationships with these characters. Additionally, there will be new gameplay elements tied to the gothic horror setting, which involves vampires.
The Curse of Strahd module focuses on the vampire Strahd von Zarovich, who rules over the land of Barovia in a way similar to the classic Dracula. The new campaign will take place in Ravenloft, which will be built from scratch within the world of Baldur’s Gate 3.
This is an enormous project that will likely take several years to complete, as it essentially amounts to a massive mod.
