Alien Deathstorm Revealed as Rebellion’s Next Sci-Fi Action Survival Horror Project

Alien Deathstorm

Many great announcements, like the very first expansion for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope and a new trailer for Stranger Than Heaven, were announced during the recent Xbox Partner Preview event. While these were already expected to appear at the event, the developers behind the Sniper Elite series and the recently launched Atomfall had a surprise for the fans.

The developers have announced their latest game, Alien Deathstorm, a first-person sci-fi survival-horror game set to launch next year. The team has also released a reveal trailer over a minute long, showcasing the game’s protagonist, currently unnamed and referred to as the “combat engineer”, roaming through a somewhat destroyed action scene.

The trailer showcases intense action, with gruesome aliens chasing players through an abandoned area, making it one of next year’s more anticipated releases.

Following the reveal, the head of design at Rebellion, Ben Fisher, shared more information about the title with Xbox Wire, noting that the team has drawn inspiration from 1980s VHS sci-fi, offering a retro vision of the future.

When asked what would make Alien Deathstorm stand out from other games in the genre, Ben stated that the hybrid of shooter and survival horror is something that’s still unexplored. He further stated:

We’re developing a high-octane action experience that will still have all the tension and horror of a more traditional survival-horror game, which is a very delicate but fun balancing act!

Not much has been revealed about the title yet, but we will likely hear more in the coming months. Alien Deathstorm is currently set to release in 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
