The chainsaw is a pretty familiar tool in horror and has been for quite some time. In The Evil Within, there’s an enemy called The Sadist that wields such a weapon. In this episode of Adam Sessler’s continuing interview series, he talk with Ikumi Nakamura and Shinji Mikami what it is about chainsaws that’s so frightening.
It’s hard to not draw comparisons with Resident Evil 4‘s Dr. Salvador and The Sadist. The few times I’ve run into him in the game, it certainly felt like a callback of sorts.
