The year of 2026 has been a revolutionary one for horror indies, with many great releases like Project Songbird, Side Hustle, and more. Another creepy indie horror, Whispers of the Tallgrass, has just been announced with a launch planned for later this year.
Whispers of the Tallgrass is an atmospheric first-person survival horror developed by a solo indie developer, Mirabilis Astrum. The game takes place in an abandoned, strange industrial area that’s overgrown with unnatural tall grass. The player’s task is to uncover the truth behind what happened to the area’s population before it became an anomalous zone.
Players will have to face a predator who’s hiding in the unnatural tall grass and comew after you just by hearing your movement, or even your scent. You have to stay cautious and hidden as you uncover the truth. Another mechanic the developer added to the game is limited saves, so you can’t save your progress at will.
The title only has certain points where the game will automatically save. This adds more tension and weight as players will have to think twice before making a decision. The goal in Whispers of the Tallgrass is to survive, understand the truth behind the area, and escape.
