Although it hasn’t been mentioned for quite some time, Silent Hill: Townfall is still alive. The development team at No Code recently provided an update on the game, following a rebranding of the studio, which is now known as Screen Burn.
Silent Hill: Townfall was announced during Konami’s Silent Hill Transmission event, which also featured the remake of Silent Hill 2 and other projects such as Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: The Short Message. But unlike those games, Townfall almost disappeared and wasn’t mentioned again for a long time.
The first teaser trailer generated interest by promising to tell the classic Silent Hill nightmare from a different perspective. The involvement of Annapurna Interactive in the project made it even more intriguing. Almost three years have passed since the first trailer was revealed, and now it has been confirmed that Silent Hill: Townfall is still in development, despite the studio undergoing a transformation in the meantime.
Originally known as No Code, the studio now operates under the name Screen Burn, yet it appears to have preserved its original identity and creative direction—especially regarding this new Silent Hill game.
This is the same team that previously released Observation and Stories Untold, two titles that laid a solid foundation for crafting compelling horror experiences.
On Screen Burn’s official website, the studio refers to Silent Hill: Townfall as the biggest game they have ever worked on, saying:
We had a rollercoaster 5 years with our amazing and lifelong friends at Devolver Digital launching Stories Untold and Observation,” the studio says on its website. “Soon after, we met Annapurna Interactive and KONAMI, and a dream offer landed on our desk. So we got to work on our biggest game to date: SILENT HILL: Townfall.
The team also shared more about their development journey.
The team grew. We started working on a concept in lockdown. We’re still working on it today. Still crafting a nightmare. We keep saying ‘We can’t wait to share more’ and it’s still true. We’re getting closer and closer, but we’re a small team making a big game. We’ll be with you soon enough and appreciate the patience.
Silent Hill: Townfall has yet to receive a release date. We will keep you posted as soon as we hear more details om this upcoming entry in Konami’s flagship horror franchise.
