Silent Hill F Bags 36/40 from Famitsu, Highest Score in the Series Yet

Silent Hill f

With just a week to go before release, Silent Hill f has already secured a glowing first review. Japanese outlet Famitsu awarded the upcoming entry a 36/40, marking the highest score the publication has ever given to a Silent Hill title. For comparison, the original Silent Hill on PS1 and Silent Hill 2 on PS2 each landed 34/40, while last year’s Silent Hill 2 Remake earned 35/40.

The magazine’s four reviewers each gave the game a 9/10, citing “visual beauty” and “surprisingly exhilarating” combat as standout elements. The average playtime is noted at roughly 12 to 13 hours, though not everything is perfect. According to the text, players may find the controls confusing at times, with some frustrating issues around getting stuck on terrain.

Developed by Neobards Entertainment in collaboration with Konami, Silent Hill f serves as a bold new chapter for the franchise. Set in 1960s Japan, the story follows Hinako Shimizu, whose quiet hometown of Ebisugaoka is swallowed by fog and turned into a nightmarish landscape.

Written by the acclaimed Ryukishi07 (Higurashi When They Cry) and scored by longtime series composer Akira Yamaoka, the game hopes to blend Silent Hill’s trademark psychological horror with Japanese cultural folklore influences.

Silent Hill f launches across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on September 25, 2025, with Deluxe Edition buyers gaining two days of early access.

Given the high praise from Famitsu, this could be the most promising entry the series has seen in years. Whether it lives up to the hype outside Japan remains to be seen, but fans don’t have long to wait before finding out for themselves. We will hopefully have a review up not long after the game’s release, so you can continue to enjoy our coverage of the franchise and its latest, and possibly goriest, entry.
