A few months ago, numerous leaks surfaced regarding a potential remake of Resident Evil Zero. While the original title was released over two decades ago, fans have been eager for a Rmremake in the style of RE2 and RE4.
According to our sources, Resident Evil Zero Remake was indeed in development for a while and planned to launch after Resident Evil Code: Veronica. However, the project reportedly faced significant development issues, ultimately leading to its cancellation.
Apparently, internal builds for the Zero remake failed to meet expectations after multiple negative playtests, prompting the developers to move on. While not much was disclosed about the internal builds, it appears that, with multiple projects in development at the studio, including the next entry in the franchise and the DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, the team couldn’t keep up with Resident Evil Zero Remake’s development.
Although this news may disappoint fans who have been requesting a remake for years, sources indicate that the team has now shifted its focus to a remake of Resident Evil 6.
An official announcement will be made later this year, along with the confirmation of the cancellation of Resident Evil Zero Remake.
