Requiem Won’t Have a Demo, and Leon Kennedy Rumors Are “Fake News”

Resident Evil Requiem

It’s common for Resident Evil titles to release a demo before launch, so many fans expected one for Resident Evil Requiem. However, a recent statement from producer Masato Kumazawa may have put those hopes to rest.

In an interview with Stevivor, Kumazawa confirmed that Capcom currently has no plans to release a demo for the upcoming game. Considering its scheduled launch on February 27, 2026, it seems unlikely there will be enough time to create and release a playable version before then.

While it’s possible the producer is keeping things secret or simply can’t discuss future content, his detailed response suggests that a demo isn’t in development:

So, in terms of a demo play, we actually have no plan for one [for the general public] at the stage. We just want to focus on finishing off the game. Our development team is just doing its best to make sure that it’s creating the best quality game; to make sure that it’s a fine product.

From his comments, it’s clear Capcom’s main focus is to complete Resident Evil Requiem on time and deliver a polished final product. Creating a demo could take away valuable time and resources from the main development effort.

During the same interview, Stevivor’s Steve Wright also asked about the long-running rumors of Leon S. Kennedy appearing in Resident Evil Requiem. Kumazawa dismissed the speculation, saying:

Apart from any official information that Capcom has released, the rest is more detective work on the part of players. So I would suggest to please not take everything at face value.

If he is to be trusted, Kumazawa’s remarks indicate that the rumored leaks about Leon’s return are false. Capcom has yet to confirmed Mr. Kennedy’s involvement, so we can only speculate for now until the game launches.
