In an interview with Ssense, Hideo Kojima shared more details about OD, the mysterious horror game he has been working on for some time in collaboration with Xbox. According to Kojima, the game will be something totally different and it will be a title that players will either “love or hate.”
Kojima has often spoken about his desire to create something unique that reflects his goal of offering new experiences. Regarding OD, he described it as a “risky” project, saying it will be “a game like no other.”
The game is also being developed with the involvement of director and screenwriter Jordan Peele, a well-known name in the horror genre. The cast includes actors such as Hunter Schafer, Sophia Lillis, and Udo Kier.
As of now, there is still a lot of uncertainty around OD. Kojima continues to make unclear and bold statements about the game, emphasizing that it will be “totally different” from what players are used to, which will likely lead to mixed opinions.
He mentioned that “people will love it or hate it,” going as far as to say that contemporary reviews won’t matter much, and that “the real evaluations come after – 10 or 20 years from now.”
As usual, Kojima’s comments leave us with more questions than answers, and while we’ve seen a chilling teaser trailer for OD, very little has been revealed about the game so far. The project is currently under development at Kojima Productions in collaboration with Xbox.
