After months of speculation, Capcom has finally presented Resident Evil Requiem, the next major installment in the beloved horror series. However, despite the release of the first trailer, which raises more questions than it answers, new rumors are shedding light on some central aspects of the game.
According to well-known insider AestheticGamer (also known as Dusk Golem), Requiem will feature the return of Leon S. Kennedy as the main protagonist, alongside a second playable character, Grace Ashcroft. Although Leon does not appear in the trailer, the leaker assures that his role will be central to the game.
The character of Grace Ashcroft has caught the attention of fans. The trailer suggests she might be the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, a character from Resident Evil: Outbreak on PS2. This connection to Alyssa brings new story possibilities, as she was last mentioned in Resident Evil 7 before she died while investigating the mysterious Wrenwood Hotel, a place that Grace will visit in the ninth game. As for Leon, Dusk Golem tells fans that “in the final game you play far more as Leon than Grace.”
Resident Evil Requiem is set to release on February 27, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Capcom has confirmed that the game will be playable at Gamescom in August, so it’s possible that Leon’s role will be confirmed during this upcoming summer event.
