Resident Evil Requiem has been the biggest hit of the year, selling over 5 million copies shorty after launch. Soon after the positive reception, developers confirmed they are working on the DLC for the title. A story expansion is currently in the works, along with a photo mode, which will be released through upcoming patches.
While many fans were wondering whether Resident Evil Requiem would be the last game in the series featuring Leon Kennedy, the character VA thinks that’s not true, and Capcom will continue Leon’s arc in upcoming titles. During a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Leon Kennedy VA Nick Apostolides stated that he believes the developers chose to center the story of the title around Raccoon City to bring back Leon to the series.
Even though there were plenty of other options, Capcom chose Leon Kennedy for obvious reasons. The voice actor further states that this decision was mainly due to the momentum Leon and his character arc gained from the recent remakes, such as Resident Evil 4. Unlike what many of us expected, the developers decided to continue his arc rather than bring it to a conclusion.
I think there’d just been so much momentum with Resident Evil 2 Remake and 4 Remake, his story, his arc. And they just wanted to, not complete it, but just continue that arc and find out where he is now in current day.
Since the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil franchise is already in development, we will likely see Leon again in action. Still, nothing is confirmed at the moment, so it’s best to look out for an official announcement.
