Hideki Kamiya Says Resident Evil Requiem Is Too Scary and Wants a “Non-Scary” Mode

Hideki Kamiya may be a legendary developer at Capcom, but it seems he’s not very comfortable actually playing horror games. According to a recent video shared by Clovers, the new studio founded by Kamiya, he admits that he finds Resident Evil Requiem so scary that he cannot play it properly.

Kamiya would like to experience the new chapter of Capcom’s famous series, but he says the fear factor is simply too much for him. Because of this, he jokingly suggested that the developers should add a special mode that removes the horror elements so players like him could still enjoy the game.

In the video, which shows a funny moment with his colleagues playing Resident Evil Requiem, Kamiya explains his idea, saying:

I’ve been saying forever they should make a non-scary mode.

He then admits that such a feature would likely go against the main concept of the game, but it would at least allow people like him to play it.

Kamiya added:

Look, I just want to enjoy the puzzles and the combat, I don’t need the scary stuff.

His comment sparked laughter from the colleagues around him.

These statements may sound surprising coming from someone who helped build the legacy of the Resident Evil series. Kamiya worked on Resident Evil 2, one of the most famous entries in the franchise.
