During the latest PlayStation State of Play event, the Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake was shown in detail with a new trailer, and the release date was announced as March 12, 2026.
The trailer shows key moments from the game. We see the twin sisters, Mio and Mayu Amakura, as they begin their nightmare. While visiting a place that is special to them, Mio becomes lost in her memories. At the same time, Mayu is drawn toward a crimson butterfly. It leads her to a mysterious village that has long been the subject of dark rumors.
The village is filled with angry spirits seeking revenge on twins who once escaped a forbidden ritual. The place is covered in endless darkness, and danger is always close. As Mio searches for Mayu and tries to escape, she unknowingly repeats the horrors of the past.
The remake promises updated visuals, better audio, and refined gameplay, bringing new life to the classic horror experience.
