Independent developer Dusty Box has officially unveiled its debut title, Cult of Blood, a survival horror experience inspired by the golden age of the genre.
The game invites players into a fog-choked village under the control of a blood-worshipping cult where survival means resisting both human and supernatural corruption.
In Cult of Blood, players take on the role of a police officer sent to investigate disturbing reports from a remote settlement. What begins as a routine inquiry quickly devolves into a waking nightmare, as the officer uncovers a hidden community enslaved by a priestess who seeks to ascend as a goddess through ritual sacrifice. The villagers, stripped of their souls and humanity, stalk the streets in eternal servitude.
Game Features:
- Cinematic Horror: Fixed camera angles and chilling cutscenes create a film-like atmosphere.
- Classic-Inspired Controls: Movement is deliberate and tense, capturing the essence of classic survival horror while adding modern refinements.
- Intense Combat: Risky melee, limited ammunition, and enemy swarms turn every fight into a desperate struggle.
- Brutal Boss Encounters: Face grotesque foes, culminating in a climactic, multi-phase final battle.
- Survival & Upgrades: Collect blood souls to unlock new gear or upgrade weapons, and manage supplies carefully to endure the escalating nightmare
According to Angelo Axiotis, co-founder of Dusty Box, “With Cult of Blood, we wanted to revive the suffocating tension of classic survival horror, where every corner hides danger and every decision could be your last.”
Cult of Blood is set to launch on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox next year. Players can wishlist the game now on Steam and enjoy a playable demo. You can watch the official announcement trailer below.
