After a five year wait from fans for a new entry in the Control universe, Remedy Entertainment finally confirmed the sequel to the title during the Game Awards 2025, with the launch in 2026. While the official release date is still unknown at the moment, the team is revealing more information about Control Resonant to build excitement among fans.
The developers also revealed an official gameplay trailer during the recent PlayStation State of Play event. Soon after that, the team released a development diary discussing the development of Control Resonant. According to the developers, storytelling has always been a core pillar of Remedy’s games, and it will remain a major focus in the upcoming title.
Executive producer on the game, Juha Vainio, stated that when it comes to moment-to-moment combat and traversal, the team has put a major focus on gameplay. Even though they already handled it well with the first Control, they aim to take it to an even higher level with the biggest gameplay team in the studio’s history.
Vainio said:
Now with Resonant, we are taking it to the next level. So we have the biggest gameplay team in Remedy history working on it.
He further added that returning players will likely see a lot of familiar faces and phenomena, while the team will also introduce new elements, creating a fun layer of familiar yet fresh challenges. It appears that Remedy is working hard on the sequel, as fans have also set high expectations for the studio.
Control Resonant will launch later this year for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The official release date is expected to be announced soon, so be sure to follow us for all the latest updates.
