The Evil Within Delayed to October 21 (Update)

Bethesda has some upsetting news to share with survival horror fans; The Evil Within will be missing its summer release date. Originally scheduled to release on August 21, folks will have to wait two additional months to play Shinji Mikami’s return to the genre he helped create.

Our very own Zack had some hands-on time with The Evil Within and is pretty hopeful for the final game. My guess is that Tango Gameworks needs some additional time to polish things; there’s nothing wrong with a better performing game, but having to wait two more months is still undeniably painful for those of us that have been eager to get a hold of what may be another classic in the making. We’ve reached out to Bethesda asking for additional details on the delay, and we’ll update this post if we receive a response.

Update: Bethesda has released a statement regarding the delay, “Shinji Mikami and his team at Tango Gameworks have asked for additional time to further balance and refine the game in order to deliver the polished, terrifying pure survival horror experience they set out to create.”

The Evil Within will be releasing on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC this fall.
