Siren comes to PSN this Tuesday

I'm a college student with a huge passion for gaming; horror being my favorite genre. I like to write about games in my spare time. When I'm not writing, I'm playing or talking about them. Hopefully this continues into what ever future employment I find myself in.

The PS2 horror classic Siren will be shambling its way to PSN this coming Tuesday. The shibito-filled horror game created by Keiichiro Toyama, creator of Silent Hill originally released in 2003 and was remade for PS3 in 2008 as Siren: Blood Curse. Horror fans can get their hands on this difficult game next week for an undisclosed price.

While I missed out on the original Siren back in 2003, I recently picked up Siren: Blood Curse. I greatly enjoy the aesthetics, creatures, and ambiance, but I can not get into the clunky gameplay. The camera is way too close for the game’s strong emphasis on stealth. A harder version of this would not be to my liking, but I’m sure this news will excite a whole bunch of people. Hopefully, a 4th entry in the series will come with a more comfortable camera perspective. In the mean time, enjoy this re-release, brethren! Maybe I’ll start work on finishing Blood Curse sometime soon.

    Hopefully you guys in the US get Siren 2 as download in the future. The sequel improves on everything in the original.

    I bought Blood Curse the day it came out. I even did a live stream of it and stuff. It was a pretty easy game now that I look back at it. I just didn’t like the game’s ending though. It was just so random..

      yeah compared to the original siren, the ps3 version was a cakewalk vs ps2 siren. only masochists beat the game

        Exactly, & then add onto that collecting all the archives o_o It’s quite the task but well worth it imo.

      Yeah, as well as being infinitely harder, the originals plot was totally different. Definitely made more sense than Blood Curse’s.

    Awesome! I was waiting for Siren: Blood Curse to have a sale or something because $40 just seems like too much for a game that old now, but the original Siren will likely be $10, which could be a great alternative.

    However, I’d rather get the superior version, so if Blood Curse is the same but better, then I think I’ll keep waiting for Blood Curse to go down in price at some point. Can anyone tell me if Blood Curse is much better or if i should just jump at the original Siren when it releases next week?

      Buy it off Ebay, the EU or JPN version, it’s all in English, menu’s and all and half the price (I’m guessing it still is, got it in September). I personally didn’t care for the original Siren game, it wasn’t so much hard as it was glitchy and annoying, but I enjoy Blood Curse mostly so far, though it definitely could improve it’s gameplay.

    if you thought the newer siren on PS3′s clunky combat mechanics were bad, your gonna HATE ps2 siren. its even worse. but it is MUCH scarier and the atmosphere is amazing. both games have their problems, but yes ps2 siren mechanics are really bad compared to ps3 blood curse. its also 10 times harder. i call it the demon’s souls of horror games. all trial and error and you get sent way back when you die. and you will die ALOT due to the mechanics. great game though if you can get pass the mechanics and bad voice acting. really scary

        Well, I guess we can just say that keeping the game from looking pretty in HD will maintain the game’s Japanese old horror movie feel. Though, I still want HD! XD

    just downloaded it. im gonna beat this bitch if it kills me. fyi its almost 5 gigs. forgot how big the game was. beat ps3 siren in a week, still cant beat this game. i get far but man its hard. gamefaqs here i come. wish me luck !!!

    I kind of want to try this, but i’m not sure i i’ll like it. Is it anything like Silent Hill? Played the Blood Curse demo and kinda liked it. I don’t mind the clunkyness that much as long as the athmosphere is good.
