Gamescom 2012: Jake & Sherry are so cute together in this new gameplay video from Resident Evil 6

The Big Cheese.

Last night I published my latest reHorror column, focusing on Jake and Sherry, where I theorize that Ms. Birkin could end up being the series’ new baddie post-Resident Evil 6. Now, this morning we get a brand new gameplay video showing off the pair in action in snowy terrain.

Isn’t that so cute? Jake enjoys a little intimate moment with Sherry here as he’s trying to shield her from incoming gunfire. Very cute. But anyway, this particular gameplay segment reminds me a lot of the “Game Time” cabin scene from Resident Evil 4. It looks quite exciting, and I’m still a total sucker for the grotesque J’avo mutations.

We also have an extended “Underground” gameplay video for Leon and Helena. We see some new bits in it, and it looks as atmospheric as ever. I don’t know about you, but I’m hoping we get to fight a giant mutated alligator at some point while underground. It’ll be a nice nod to Resident Evil 2 and players’ encounter with the giant alligator, akin to how Chris will be facing Yawn’s brother in his scenario.

        Yeah, Ada maybe… I hope she stops that whole ”appear, helps leon, disappear” thing… That’ boring ;S

        One way or another, I want to know what will happen with Sherry, Jake I’m only interested in see what happens when Chris finds out he’ Wesker’ son.

        Leon, I really hope that a thunder strikes him down… Never hated a character that much.

        Chris… Yeah yeah, I’ll be happy with whatever happens to him, not a fan after all…

        My question is:

        Where’ Rebecca? Where’ Barry? Where’ Ark? Where’ Billy?

        These are the character I most want to know what happens and may never find out.

          Wow so you want too see characters that had very little impact on the series but dont care what happens too the main characters? Why hate Leon what has he done that was so wrong? And why would u buy this game if you’re only gonna enjoy 1 campaign?!?!?

        I just hope she doesn’t get a partner character. From one of the previous articles, her scenario sounds more like the old RE’s, with a focus on exploration, tension and problem solving. Without a partner, it could be the perfect basis for the whole of RE7.

      I agree. But disagree about Ada. Her disappearing and appearing is who she is. I’m actually surprised she teamed up with Leon & Helena in fighting Debra. Chris should be gone & I’m hoping Jill is dead. It should’ve been Billy & Rebecca’s campaign. Only reason I’m buying this game is for Leon, Ada, Sherry. But I’m a ‘re2 fan first in series I played.

      I hear that! Awww my ass!!!! Is this what RE is about now?! Look, sorry to be a troll (again) but this is trully stupid. First of all Jake shouldent even exist … dont friggin tell me that Wesker really had a son … yeah right because he is sooo sociable…. But that aside, how would you feel if you playaed a coop with a buddy who likes RE as much as you do and sudenlly your characters would start with lovey dovey stuff in the middle of the game … and even if it was only in cutscenes. Honestly tell me if that wouldent make you feel akward. My point is that it severly brakes the pacing of the game not to mention it is a stupid cliche thing to do. I mean if you actually take into conscideration Birkins character, she was a loner because she was forced to be alone and to not make a contact with other children. Its only logical that this streak would eventually get in a way of her relationships with men as well. Its just a game but its a part of a series that i come to love and Im naturally pissed about the directions (storywise) the series has take. If Capcom wants to do something new than I dont know …. how about make Sherry an independent strong character that doesnt need any emotional leverege!!!! Well at least there is no STEEEEVE….

        Think about it this way, she and Jake are very much the same. Just as she rarely saw her parents, Jake’s father abandoned him. They’ve both spent their entire lives fighting as loners, and now they finally have someone who understands them. I’m not trying to defend any romantic stuff in the game, but it seems like Jake was made to assume that role in the first place.

          Ok have to admit that sounds reasonable, but nobody will change my mind about this whole thing being a MAJOR hinderance in regards to the story AND most importantly gameplay. Like I said before it would be no problem if I played with my girlfriend, but playing it with a buddy WILL BE AWKWARD no mather how you look at it. Same goes for the character of Jake … not even Troy Baker can save this…..

    Yeah Chris and Leon in honor.
    But like a poster below said Jake and but more so Sherry is the reason I get this.
    I have waited a long time too finally find out what she has been doing all these years.
    Cus I guess before she became what she is now I doubt being in Goverment hands was all that fun.
    Just waiting for Barry now too show up being a family man with too daughter’s he can show up an become some sort of father figure to them both :D

    Wonder if they will actually let us play the game for ourselves to find out what happens or just show it all to us in gameplay vids. Completely ruined RE5 for me for that exact reason hope they dont make the same mistake again
