Psychological horror game Fran Bow features cute kitties and dead parents

Fran Bow

Fran Brow was a happy girl who lived in a nice home with her parents and pet cat, but one day a tragedy claimed the lives of her parents and separated her from her feline companion. Now trapped in an asylum, players must guide Fran back to freedom and discover who was behind the murder.

Fran Brow was designed by Isak Martinsson and Natalia Figueroa of the Swedish indie studio Killmonday Games. It plays like a classic point & click adventure game as you walk through the halls of the asylum trying to solve various puzzles, which requires you to collect, combine, and use various odd items that you find on your journey. Fran also possesses a bottle of pills to which she has an adverse reaction. Take one of these, and the world around you becomes a horrid hell-hole filled with monsters, macabre corpses, and strange occurrences. While not pleasant for Fran, it does allow you to manipulate the world in ways that you can’t do when sane.

I was allowed to play through a small portion of the game and so far it has me completely hooked. It looks beautiful and the puzzles are surprisingly challenging. A demo is available from the Steam page sourced below and the full product releases on August 27, 2015.
