MercurySteam’s Castlevania remake may eventually be shown via screens and artwork

In the early stages of developing a new entry in Konami’s classic Castlevania franchise, Spain-based developer MercurySteam was intending to develop a full-blown remake of the first Castlevania game. They made some progress with the idea, too, but ended up scrapping the build in favor of an original entry which ended up becoming Lords of Shadow.

So, will fans ever get a chance to see how this proposed Castlevania remake was going to be like? According to Lords of Shadow’s producer, David Cox, screens and artwork may end up surfacing from the scrapped remake eventually, but he made no promises. Still, I can’t help but be excited over seeing content from a Castlevania remake that was once being developed by this talented team. Wouldn’t it be awesome, and fitting, to release the images in time for the franchise’s upcoming 25th anniversary?
