ICYMI – TGA 2014 and then some

The Game Awards have just aired, with it bringing with it a few stories for horror game fans.  A single review this week, a whole lot of Resident Evil stuff, again, and some game updates.  It all happened this week, in case you missed it.

 From TGA 2014

The new Bloodborne trailer is pretty combat-heavy, showing off blood, fire and some disgustingly satisfying hacking sounds in the game’s in-game combat.  Did I mention blood?  Cause there’s a lot of it being shed.  The Playstation 4 exclusive Until Dawn shows off its style of QTE gameplay.  The game looks great, and is everything to love about cheesy teen horror flicks, so the QTE prompts might be forgiveable.  There’s also a new super-short trailer for The Order: 1886.

This week’s Review

We had a look at the re-released Darkness Within – the Pursuit of Loath Nolder on the PC. Not to be confused with The Evil Within.  At all costs.

The most wonderful time of the year…

It’s December, and that means it’s time to look at all of the great games you’ve played this year, and pick the best.  It’s been a pretty good year for horror games –  we want to hear what game is your Game of the Year and have compiled a list.  Something we missed?  Let us know.

Game Updates

A couple of recently released games received some updates this week.  The Evil Within received an optimization patch on the Xbox One and Playstation 4, with the PC version “coming soon.”  Limbo has made its debut on the Xbox One.  Yeah, the game is getting on in years, but it’s kind of a classic.  DayZ has introduced vehicles, cannibalism and disease in the DayZ standalone, because the zombies weren’t bad enough, you can now be eaten by other people and die from other diseases.  Great.  The Trauma DLC add-on pack has also released for Alien: Isolation.

Resident Evil Stuff

The hype machine for Resident Evil Revelations 2 and Resident Evil HD have kicked into high gear, and do we have the news to show for it.

There’s the new trailer featuring the very-different looking Barry Burton, and the introduction of the little girl who will tag along with him in Revelations 2.  There’s also new information on the enemies he’ll face and some of the environments of the game.  Also Wesker is back.  Yup.

When it comes to Resident Evil HD Remastered,  a release date has been revealed with a bunch of new images, and confirmation that it will run 60+FPS on the PC.

Other Stuff you May have Missed

We have a first look at the new smartphone game for Tokyo GhoulTokyo Ghoul Carnaval, a full 15 minutes of Dying Light, and some good news for Playstation 4 fans of Dead Island 2.
