Horrible News Of The Day: Resident Evil Stunt-woman Will Need Her Arm Amputated
This is really, really terrible to hear. We’d previously reported that Olivia Jackson, Mila Jovovich’s stunt-double for the upcoming Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, was recovering from her injuries that where sustained when a stunt went wrong on the set of the film. Sadly, it looks like “recovery” wasn’t quite the right word, exactly. She obviously survived the accident, but earlier today she was quoted by The Sun (via Yahoo News) describing how her left arm will apparently need to be amputated.
“My left arm is paralyzed and is going to have to be amputated. My facial scarring is horrible and I wish I had my old face. But I’m truly grateful to be alive,”
I can’t even imagine how difficult it would be to loose a limb, and how much worse that prospect would be for someone who literally makes a living using her body and athleticism. These people put their lives on the line for our entertainment, and it doesn’t always go as planned, it can’t be 100% all of the time. I was so very, very sorry to read this headline this morning, and wish her all the best in the future. She recently posted a picture to Twitter that shows that she seems to be taking all this in a kind of stride, flashing a great big smile at the camera, which is nice to see. As one of my idols always says “The only time when you can cry is when it’s all over”, and it’s pretty badass that Olivia, despite this truly terrible tragedy, is holding her head up high for the world to see. Here’s to you, Ms. Jackson.
