Fallout 4’s Far Harbor DLC Looks To Be Bringin’ Back The Spookies

I’m just going to assume that there’s no need describing Fallout here. Bombs fall, vault dwellers, future, monsters, bottlecaps. You know, one of the most popular and influential western RPGs of all time.

Suffice it to say, Fallout is no stranger to creepy, disturbing, or even genuinely scary stuff. It is the post-apocalypse after all, and there are sure to be a few crazed loons wandering around the wasteland. Fallout 4 was a little lighter on it this time around, the only scary bits I can think of are probably running into Pickman and exploring the Salem Witch Museum. But it looks like Bethesda isn’t going to let the potential to really spook us go to waste in this latest instalment, with this month’s Far Harbor DLC, the first major expansion to Fallout 4. The trailer gives us a taste of what to expect, and after skipping the other two mostly meh looking DLCs, I can’t wait for this.

I’m getting serious Call of Cthulu vibes from this (hey look at that, autocorrect doesn’t have a problem with Cthulu), the thought of an island sequestered away from the rest of the world, that has developed its own sinister culture and weird post-apocalyptic problems. The fog, the townspeople, the creepy cult stuff that seems to be going on. It looks like there’s going to be a lot to do on this creepy island, and I can’t wait. Although I don’t have the cool, suave Detective Valentine with me for it, so I hope poor CVRIE doesn’t get too scared by any of it.

Guess we’ll all see what awaits us in the fog on the 19th of this month across all platforms.
