Dead Space 2:No standard PS3 edition, Only Special Edition

With the announcement at E3 that Dead Space 2 will see a special edition exclusive to the PS3, including the once Wii exclusive Dead Space: Extraction, fans were left to wonder what the pricing would be and if there would  be other editions of Visceral’s much anticiapted sequel. Well judging by Gamestop’s listing for Dead Space 2, which is up for pre-order, it seems that fans looking to play Isaac’s latest on the PS3 will only have the special edition as a purchasing option, but that’s not bad at all seeing as how the price is equivalent to any other full priced retail release: $59.99 usd.

So yeah no standard edition for PS3 owners , EA seems to be taking a move akin to the ps3 release of Dante’s Inferno , where the ‘divine edition’ was exclusive to the PS3. Visceral sure loves them some Sony.

I hope Dead Space 2 retains it’s roots. The E3 demo dissapointed until Issac had the fight that huge boss at the end of the demo.

    here we go!

greediness back in action from EA!

Thanks for this, now’ll I’ll have to avoid day one purchase for this greediness!

It’s not like EA would have been able to include extraction for the 360 and keep it to one dic. So this is just one of the classic examples of developer uses the extra features available on the PS3. Thank goodness for those 50GB on the blu-ray.

    @ xino…

How is this greediness from EA if they’re charging the same price as a regular game and giving more?

Day one buy for me…got to show my appreciation.

Dead Space is one of the best games I’ve played on my three PS3s.

xino, what greediness? $60 for 2 full games. they’re not selling you car fuel, or water, or health insurance.. they’re selling a videogame. If you think it’s not a good value then wait for it to go down in price or never buy it at all.

  • Monkey1985

Uhm, how is that “greediness” from EA?

They are offering this special edition of the game exclusively for the PS3 at the *IDENTICAL* price of a standard edition. If anything they’re giving things away for free.

Unless I missed something, that is the opposite of being greedy, and a far cry from how Activision has recently been price-hiking.

Didn’t think there would be people upset over this move, unless of course you’re solely a 360 owner. But if the notion of having no standard edition is bothersome for you then I don’t know what to say. I mean I would understand if the only edition offered on the ps3, special edition, was more expensive than the standard 360 version but it’s not. In terms of pricing they’re both identical. Either way , the game is shaping up to be quite special can’t wait.
