Dead Space – Ignition Announced!
We teased earlier this week that there was a major Dead Space 2 announcement coming some time this week. Well with the week just over halfway finished, we have at announcement. Visceral Games recently gave us this picture to salivate over, claiming that there were clues hidden somewhere in it. What could those clues be?

Anyone who was proficient (uhh–how many people were there?) in the language used in the game would know that the word “Ignition” was scrawled across the top of the screen. There was a lot of speculation on what that could mean. There’s also a plasma cutter in the player’s left hand…oh God, what could it mean?!
What it means is a nice little chunk of Dead Space DLC. Ignition is a prequel game of the ‘Choose your Own Adventure’ style. The game will provide a unique perspective and fill in some crucial story bits leading up to Dead Space 2.
Depending on which path you choose in the game, you’ll earn one of four endings. These endings don’t stand on their own though–unlock a certain ending in Ignition and you’ll be rewarded when Dead Space 2 comes out.
Dead Space: Ignition is set to be released by Visceral Games and Sumo Digital for a Fall 2010 release. It will be available through Xbox Live Arcade and PSN.
From the press release:
Hours before engineer Isaac Clarke begins his adventure on “The Sprawl” in Dead Space 2, a Necromorph outbreak occurs. But how did the events unfold? Players will witness the horror first-hand when Visceral Games….releases Dead Space Ignition, an all-new downloadable game that takes place on The Sprawl and challenges players to survive the initial Necromorph Outbreak.
By the way, Dead Space 2 will be available on January 25, 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
