Dead Island: Definitive Edition is a thing that probably exists

African retailer Loot.co.za may have just spilled the beans of a Definitive Edition release of Deep Silver’s Dead Island. In a listing that’s now removed, Dead Island: Definitive Edition for PS4, Xbox One, and PC was viewable. There are no details whether or not this release was just for the original game or a combo pack with Dead Island: Riptide.

Seeing as how Dead Island 2‘s release is up in the air after Deep Silver parted ways with its developer, Yager, a Definitive Edition makes sense. New textures and a higher resolution won’t necessarily fix my issues with the Dead Island games, so I’d recommend getting Dying Light instead if you’re thinking about trying out the series. It’s everything the Dead Island games attempted to be.

What I’m really waiting for is a comedy-focused Dead Island, which the sequel by Yager was going to be. Will that remain? Hopefully! We have enough grim zombie fiction drowning us.
