After almost two years of work, the first chapter of the long-running Higurashi: no Naku Koro ni horror franchise has finally being ported to Steam. Chapter 1, titled “Onikakushi“, welcomes everyone to the lovely village of Hinamizawa and the horrifying mystery it contains.
This release comes to us from Manga Gamer and features an improved translation compared to the version that has been available since 2002. Also new are the redone sprites for all the characters, with an option in the menu to switch back and forth between the classic and new style with the press of a button.
A single chapter of this story costs only $ 5.99 and Manga Gamer intends to port the entire original story (eight chapters), Higurashi: When They Cry Rei (3 chapters), and the original concept story that inspired the franchise: Hinamizawa Teiryuujyo.
