Bullet Witch is Coming to Steam April 25 for Some Reason

Bullet Witch

Do you remember Bullet Witch? Of course you don’t. Why would you remember an insufferably mediocre Xbox 360-exclusive character action game from 2006? If you are one of the three people that do remember Bullet Witch, then you might be glad to know that the 2006 action title will be coming to Steam. Twelve years after it’s initial release.

For the uninformed, Bullet Witch tells the story of Alicia, a scantily-clad witch who also uses guns. Set in the far-flung post-apocalyptic wastes of 2013, she fights against a variety of demons and monsters in a battle for the fate of mankind. It’s like Bayonetta, if Bayonetta was not very good, even by 2006 standards. The Xbox 360 version currently holds a Metacritic score of 55, with a User Rating of 60. I can’t imagine it has aged particularly well in the last twelve years.

I joke, but honestly I might give Bullet Witch a shot if it’s on sale. I don’t think Bullet Witch will see a resurgence from a Steam release more than a decade after it’s original release, but I do think there is value in keeping obscure games like this easily accessible, if for no other reason than the archival value they have. Bullet Witch may not have aged particularly well, but there is something to be said for a game standing as a snapshot of another era in game development.

Sexy goth ladies with sniper rifles fighting Mad Max demons is about as 2006 as you can get. 10-year-old me doesn’t care if the game is bad; it sounds rad as hell. Even the name sounds great. Bullet Witch? It’s just one word away from being the exact name of my middle school metal band Blood Witch! Great minds think alike! I take it all back, this game is an underrated gem.

If Bullet Witch (!) sounds like your particular cup of tea, you can check out the game’s Steam page right here. Who knows, if enough people buy copies, maybe we can see a Bullet Witch 2? The big twist here is that the game will be good this time.
