Each game is going to be sold at $5 each on Amazon.com for Digital Download or you can buy a bundle of both games for $10 on Steam. This deal will save you about 30$ in the long run so if you have been dying to get these games at a good sale I don’t think there is any other time to get them.

Speaking to Kotaku, an insider told them of EA’s plans to branch out the Dead Space series into new genres in hopes to increase sales. EA plans to make a Dead Space FPS, an Uncharted-like game and a Dead Space flight game…I’m not sure how popular flight games are these days, but sure.

The insider told of a management shift that almost killed the production of Dead Space 3. You know, the one we actually really want.

More details on Dead Space 3 have been leaked to Kotaku and they’re the very same details that was leaked not too long ago to Siliconera. The third entry is said to bring Isaac to the frozen planet of Tau Volantis. The game is also said to be completely co-op and be the end of the Isaac Clarke trilogy.

It seems like EA intends to change the Dead Space series for good after the third game is released. I am a big fan of Extraction, but officially turning the series into something it’s not is disappointing. Dead Space is a great example of modern Survival Horror. It brought back that classic genre to modern consoles, and now it seems that EA wants to drop that in favor of more mainstream genres. I wouldn’t be all too bothered if these planned titles were intended to be side games, but according to Kotaku’s source, the series is changing for good.

The Survival Horror genre is still a very niche one. Thankfully, we still have true-to-form titles to look forward to. AMY, Resident Evil: Revelations and Silent Hill: Downpour should fix the hole in my heart. I will miss you Dead Space.

The latest PlayStation Store update has spawned a digital version of Dead Space 2 for the price of $29.99. And if you’re a PlayStation Plus member you’ll be able to download a full game trial version. Despite what people may think about the whole digital versus physical copy debate, I think it’s quite nice that Dead Space 2 is being brought out again, now in a digital format. The game came out all way back in the beginning of the year, meaning that despite its awesomeness, it’s most likely going to get lost in the shuffle amidst all the other triple A games that have come out since– especially in this very busy season we’re in. I’ll tell you one thing, though, Dead Space 2’s sure going to be one of our nominees for our annual horror game of the year award next month.

Dead Space 3 is said to start off on a command center on Mars. Here Isaac is given a mission to recover a woman on the planet Tau Volantis: a frozen ball of ice in which the majority of the game will take place on.

Isaac won’t be going alone to Tau Volantis, no, he will be accompanied by none other than his newly formed split personality! Visceral might be going for a spot on the Soap Opera Channel with this new twist.

It’s clear that poor Isaac went through some crazy stuff during his last game–his mind was as much as a battleground as The Sprawl. The Marker embedded its agenda into his head, and Isaac had to fight it in the climax. If the ordeal created a rip in the little engineers psyche, then this new “Shadow Isaac” could perhaps make things interesting. After finishing Dead Space 2, I was worried that the next game would have to drop its psychological elements.

If these rumors are true, how will Shadow Isaac effect gameplay? How will he make the game any scarier? This is all a rumor for now anyway, but Prince Of Persia: Two Thrones comes to mind when I think of game characters with split personalities. It could end up humorous, but that’s not what Dead Space goes for is it?

I don’t know about you guys, but this rumor has me psyched for Dead Space 4, where Isaac has to fight Necromorphs with a bad case of Irritable Bowl Syndrome.

But here comes a recent report straight from Siliconera in which they state that the inevitable Dead Space 3 is set to take place on a frozen planet. Somehow, in Dead Space 3, Isaac Clarke will reportedly find himself crashing his ship on Tau Volantis (the frozen planet in question). Moving as far away as possible from the previous entries’ barely-lit corridors (save for some beautiful, colored set-pieces in Dead Space 2) Dead Space 3 will pit Isaac in a brightly-lit blizzard climate, faced with the new enemies introduced in the game, being referred to as the “hive mind.” Here’s a good chunk of what the source site reported:

Early in Dead Space 3, Isaac crash lands on the planet. He believes he may be the only survivor and makes his way to an abandoned waystation, which he uses for shelter from the snowstorm. There he finds a survivor who is severely injured. Isaac speaks to the near dead comrade who reveals there are other survivors that trekked off to another facility. One of them is Ellie, a key character from the original Dead Space game. Isaac grabs a snowsuit and heads into the blizzard.

Later in the game, Isaac reunites with Ellie and a new character named Jennifer. The trio scale a mountain, but Jennifer is reluctant to do so. She’s a tech type excited over finding a codex and plans to reverse engineer research by a group called Rosetta to gain access to it. As they climb up the mountain, they hear a howl from below, but cannot spot what kind of creature made the sound.

So, how does this all sound to you? If you were to ask me, I’d tell you that I’m already highly anticipating this threequel, regardless of setting, but reading this is truly icing on the cake (ha).

Israeli news show The Headlines recently visited EA’s Visceral Games. During that visit, possible hints and teasing toward Dead Space 3 were given. Concept art, in-game models, and a logo were spotted in the Redwood Shores office that birthed Necromorophs and puss spewing breasts.

Seeing as how the very office that created Dead Space had these teasers thrown around, some credibility to this rumor exists. Perhaps this is very early teaser marketing, and the official Dead Space 3 reveal is not too far away. What this does is cause some hype for the game. But for now, sit back calmly; We all just suffered from some sadness last week. Let’s keep our hopes low for the time being.
